President Says Ukraine Aid Would Fund U.S. Manufacturing

White House continues advocating for foreign aid congressional approval

President Joe Biden continues to advocate for congressional approval of financial aid for Ukraine. He said on Tuesday that nearly two-thirds of the proposed funding would fund weapons manufacturing in the United States.

“While this bill sends military equipment to Ukraine,” President Biden said, “It spends the money right here in the United States of America in places like Arizona, where the Patriot missiles are built; and Alabama, where the Javelin missiles are built; and Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Texas, where artillery shells are made.”

Speaker of the House Mike Johnson has not brought the $95 billion foreign aid package to the House floor for a vote, saying that spending so much money abroad does not meet the needs of the American people. The White House maintains that, of the $60.7 billion allocated for Ukraine, $38.8 billion would go back into the economy through domestic weapons manufacturing.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Speaker Johnson and members of the House to be prudent in their consideration of foreign aid.
  • For the president and his economic advisors to receive God’s direction regarding government spending.
